Ok don't laugh...About a month ago i purchased a Robo male hamster, played with him in the store he was nice my mother even held him. I buy him and i give him a few days to settle in his new cage and i gentle reach my hand in there and the darn thing got rabid on me...He hates me!!! I have been up all night and i had to uncover him to get him to wake up, i thought he was dead for a minute. He is maybe a wake 5 minutes a day, im not kidding i cant sleep sometimes and he never wakes up, i know i wait for him to to try and touch him or feed him...I don't or will not touch him when he is sleeping, dude is crazy.
So i try everything, bribery you name it. I swear if he could put up his middle finger he would do it to me LOL. Im wondering if its because i took him from his friend. I could buy another hammy, i do have another cage just in case dude goes ballistic on new hamster.
Should i take the chance and buy another? Will or could i end up with two crazy hamsters? I train horses and this little tiny hamster has me whipped and scared he is going to eat me or something.
So again should i buy him a friend, another male?
Also lets say i see another small type hamster, can you mix those or will i really have a fight on my hands? Do they need to be the same breed?

If three others, buy three more, if two, buy two more
DO whatever it takes to make him happy.
Ask a vet or the place you got your little hammy from
Maybe he needs a parter and wants to have babies.

lol good luck!Actually the 1st answerer was wrong! Do not buy 4 hamsters together! That is stupid! 3 MAX like 2 is fine. I would try it but if it doesn't work then split them. I would let them meet on the floor and wear some gloves because i had to split some fighting hamsters and it bit my and there is a little pol of blood in my hand and on the carpet lol. It hurt like hell!
Kay that 1st answerer is stupid! Don't breed, (don't get a female) or put 3 more in his cage! If i could i woul put 10 thumbs down but i am only a level 1 -_-When you brought him home was like that? Leave him alone for a few days or blow on him when he bites you. I always do that do my hamster when she is being naughty. Hamsters hate being blowed on. Also if you have any other pet smell on your hands they will bite you. But also about buying another hamster with them in the same cage, they will fight, and sometimes ending up killing one of them. But you could try if you wanted. Someone said they blew on their hamsters when they were fighting and they never fought again. Or you could take him to the vet and see what is wrong.

the poor thing is scared and lonely, no wonder he's trying to bite you - he sees you as the person who took him away from his friend!

it depends what type of hamster you have because some can't live with other hamsters. My hamster does the same thing if i touch him or open the cage he has a fit and trys to eat my arm. Ive tryed everything and nothing works, so i just leave him alone because thats what he wants. When i clean out his cage i just hold the ball to his door and wait for him to climb in.I would suggest that you buy a book about hamsters. It will tell you everything you need to know about taming them, caring for them etc. Ideally, this is something you should do before buying a new pet though!#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
