I've been noticing more and more rock songs that start with like a violin piece and then it turns into heavy guitars and stuff. It's really awesome! Who started that?Buddy Holly-True Loves Way,It has strings in itI would say The Moody Blues and their Days Of Future Passed CD was the cornerstone.Electric Lite Orchestra. The Beatles dabbled, but the first real major use was Deep Purple's Concerto for Group and Orchestra in like 1968, in which the hard rock band actually played a three piece suite that was composed to be played together with the orchestra.I don't know who was the first, but you should definitely check out the total works of Emerson, Lake and Palmer (ELP) - they mixed classcal with rock better than perhaps anybody. Queen also did a great job. This trend started in the mid sixties with bands like The Moody Blues and The Beatles and The Move, The Nice, Yes and a little later of course with ELO who really went to town with the concept. The Beatles played a large part in that trend.
Then guys like the Moody Blues & ELO took it to another level. We still hear it on rock songs fairly often today.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
