I want to become a f1 driver. I am 15 years old. But i had never been to karts. Can i directly go to racing school and after getting race licence can i directly join lower stage formula races? Karting experience is not necessary, but it has certainly helped many drivers get to Formula 1.Yes,because it gives them experience of driving cars and you do not race in karts before F1.You are forgetting Formula 3 and GP2,the series before F1.Despite what almost everyone thinks, a big fat NO, you don't need to race karts to make it in F1. Most every race driver does because that's how you get started in racing, but World Champion Damon Hill never raced karts. It means more to be successful in Formula Fords and F3000.It can be done without Karts, Damon Hill has never been near one7 Mark Webber only limited kart experience but cost wise, its the best entry to motor sport, weather F1, touring car or even Indy is your eventual goal.not really...
TO BE HONEST:
There are people who want to train their children early in life to become an racing driver....as an 3/4-14 yr olds are not allowed Formula Cars....so for early years Karting is good...or rather its the only option....now you may get into racing Formula Cars....but karting experience is valuable...and it would be good or advisable ..
.if you havent done any kinda racing till today then plz do some karting and participate in karting events....after that get into Formula Maruti/JK Tyre National Junior Cup ,which happens in chennai ..
it may set you back with Rs.1.5 lac +extra money for living+racing suit etc...
If you have money+talent=lucky boy...you will be unstoppable
but if you lack any one of them....errryep and then you work your way up the ladder (:Every F1 driver I know of has started in karts, from about the age of 8 or so. There are dozens of people asking this question every week on here so you've got plenty of competition, good luck though!
